If you hit up the Empire Polo Club at Coachella this year, you’re already familiar with this week’s Launch Artist.
Her name is K.Flay and she’s a native of Wilmette, Illinois who never really planned to be a musician. She studied Psychology and Sociology at Stanford University, but things changed when she started making music with her neighbor.
Although K.Flay cites a wide variety of artists as her inspirations, (Missy Elliot, Garbage, and Cat Power, to name a few) her latest song “Blood In The Cut” has caught the attention of alt-rock fans. K.Flay told Radio.com that she wrote the song during a moment of catharsis after experiencing heartbreak and hopes people relate to the song’s defiant and celebratory tone.
Check out the video below and pick up K.Flay’s latest EP “Crush Me”, available now.
