The influence of 80s dance music on the contemporary pop landscape is unmistakeable—we’ve witnessed the decade’s slow, steady drip into fashion, studio film reboots and broader areas of our nostalgic culture. However, the 80s are rarely as alive and awesome as on the radio.
DJ Tronicbox reworked one of Ariana Grande’s biggest hits in the style of Tiffany, Debbie Gibson and other acolytes of the synth-and-marimba 80s pop style. Here’s “One Last Time,” 1985 version.
Tronicbox previously retooled Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” in a kind of Peabo Bryson arrangement, but we have to say—Ari wears the style better. This remix of “One Last Time” can hang with Belinda Carlisle and Taylor Dane any time.
