Jennifer Lopez has released a video for “I Ain’t Your Mama” just in time for Mother’s Day weekend.
The pop star released a lyric video for the upbeat tune on April 7 and performed the number that evening on the finale of American Idol. The song was written by Meghan Trainor and is about a woman who refuses to fill the archaic stereotype of the ’50s housewife and longs for real affection from her significant other
“When did you get too comfortable? /’Cause I’m too good for that, I’m too good for that. just remember that/ I ain’t gonna be cooking all day, I ain’t your mama.”
“The song itself felt very empowering,” Lopez told ET. “Treat me good, you know? [Don’t] Treat me like I’m your maid. Guys have this tendency they love you in the beginning and you’re the hottest woman in the world and then all of a sudden it’s like, ‘Okay, where’s my food?’ And I’m like, ‘What?!? You kidding me? Take me out.'”
As if to prove that she’s still worth being treated like the hottest woman in the world, yesterday the 46-year-old superstar posted a selfie of herself in a bikini, with the caption, “Happy sunny day!! Are you guys ready for #aintyourmama video!!??
